Metal Chain Parts Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2023, metal chain parts exports in Africa soared to X tons, growing by X% compared with 2022 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, metal chain parts exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal chain parts exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Egypt (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of South Africa (X p.p.) and Egypt (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while South Africa stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (X%).

Imports in Africa

For the third year in a row, Africa recorded growth in overseas purchases of parts of chains of iron or steel, which increased by X% to X tons in 2023. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked in 2023 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Egypt (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Kenya (X tons), Namibia (X tons), Mozambique (X tons) and Angola (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Togo (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), South Africa ($X) and Togo ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total imports.

Togo, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2023, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per ton), while Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mozambique (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
