In value terms, leek exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Kenya represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. Morocco (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Egypt (X%) and South Africa (X%). The following exporters - Tanzania (X tons), Senegal (X tons) and Ethiopia (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
Kenya was also the fastest-growing in terms of the leeks and other alliaceous vegetables exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Senegal (X%), Morocco (X%) and Tanzania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Ethiopia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Egypt (X%) and South Africa (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
