By contrast, Botswana (-4.3%) and Algeria (-28.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of South Africa (+36 p.p.), Egypt (+14 p.p.) and Zimbabwe (+3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Algeria (-51.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iron or steel gas domestic appliances in Africa, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Zimbabwe ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Morocco, with an 11% share.

In South Africa, metal gas appliances imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zimbabwe (+31.7% per year) and Morocco (-0.4% per year).
