Exports in Africa

For the tenth consecutive year, Africa recorded decline in overseas shipments of ink-pads, which decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports saw a sharp downturn. The smallest decline of X% was in 2017. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ink-pad exports fell significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a sharp setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Tunisia (X units) took an X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Mauritius (X%), Madagascar (X%) and Swaziland (X%). Tanzania (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Madagascar (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Madagascar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mauritius (X%), Tanzania (X%), Tunisia (X%) and Swaziland (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa amounted to X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Madagascar (X% per year) and Tunisia (X% per year).

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
