Exports in Africa

In 2023, shipments abroad of industrial robots for multiple uses decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, industrial robot exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. Exports by Country

South Africa prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. The following exporters - Morocco (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Congo (X units) - together made up X% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to industrial robot exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Egypt (X%) and Gabon (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Congo experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tunisia (X%) and Morocco (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of South Africa (X p.p.), Egypt (X p.p.) and Gabon (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of Congo (X p.p.), Tunisia (X p.p.) and Morocco (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

Egypt, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, waning by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Gabon ($X per unit), while South Africa ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, the amount of industrial robots for multiple uses imported in Africa skyrocketed to X units, rising by X% compared with 2022. Overall, imports saw a strong increase. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, industrial robot imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. South Africa was the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Morocco (X units), generating a X% share of total imports.
