From 2011 to 2018, the growth of brown rice imports failed to regain its momentum.

Imports by Country

Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports of husked (brown) rice in 2018. Niger (X tons) took a X% share (based on tons) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Togo (X%) and Uganda (X%).

In 2018, the brown rice import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the brown rice import price continues to indicate a moderate shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the import prices for husked (brown) rice attained their peak figure at $X per ton in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2018, import prices failed to regain their momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
