In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of chicken eggs, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. In general, exports showed mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chicken egg exports surged to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
South Africa was the largest exporter of chicken eggs in Africa, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Zambia (X tons) and Rwanda (X tons), together making up a X% share of total exports. Morocco (X tons), Swaziland (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to chicken egg exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Rwanda (X%), Cameroon (X%) and Zambia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Egypt experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Morocco (X%) and Swaziland (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In South Africa, chicken egg exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Zambia (X% per year) and Rwanda (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, chicken egg export price increased by X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Somalia (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Libya ($X) and Senegal ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild slump. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Central African Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
