The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, helicopter exports soared to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Mozambique represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at X% of total exports. Cameroon (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Sudan (X units), South Africa (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Zimbabwe (X units). All these countries together occupied approx. X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tanzania (X units) and Seychelles (X units) - each finished at a X% share of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Sudan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. from 2009 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, helicopter imports reached $X in 2020. In general, imports recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

Chad represented the major importer of helicopters in Africa, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2020. Seychelles (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Sudan (X%), South Africa (X%) and Ghana (X%). Madagascar (X units) and Gabon (X units) took a little share of total imports.

Chad was also the fastest-growing in terms of the helicopters imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Ghana (+X%), Madagascar (+X%), Seychelles (+X%) and Gabon (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, South Africa (-X%) and Sudan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
