After two years of decline, shipments abroad of hazelnuts increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hazelnut exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from South Africa (X tons), together recording X% of total export.
South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hazelnuts exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. South Africa (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) also remains the largest hazelnut supplier in Africa.

In value terms, hazelnut imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Algeria (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main importers of hazelnuts in Africa, together resulting at approx. X% of total imports. Tunisia (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (X%). The following importers - Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
