In 2023, approx. X tons of goat or kid hides and skins were exported in Africa; declining by X% against 2022 figures. In general, exports saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, goat hides and skins exports soared to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2023, Botswana (X tons) was the largest exporter of goat or kid hides and skins, mixing up X% of total exports. Zambia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Rwanda (X%), Somalia (X%), Kenya (X%), Ghana (X%) and South Africa (X%). The following exporters - Zimbabwe (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), Malawi (X tons), Sudan (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
Exports from Botswana increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Ghana (X%), Mauritania (X%) and Nigeria (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Kenya experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Zimbabwe (X%), Sudan (X%), Somalia (X%), Zambia (X%), South Africa (X%), Rwanda (X%), Tanzania (X%) and Malawi (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Zimbabwe and Nigeria increased by X, X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Zimbabwe ($X) remains the largest goat hides and skins supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Africa ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Zambia, with an X% share.
In Zimbabwe, goat hides and skins exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Africa (X% per year) and Zambia (X% per year).
