After two years of growth, shipments abroad of frozen fish fillet decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen fish fillet exports rose rapidly to $X in 2023. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked in 2023 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Namibia represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Uganda ($X per ton) and Tanzania ($X per ton), while Morocco ($X per ton) and Namibia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Mali, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X%. The level of import peaked in 2023 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per ton), while Mali ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
