Exports in Africa

For the third year in a row, Africa recorded decline in shipments abroad of frozen cuttlefishes, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen cuttlefishes exports plummeted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp reduction. Namibia represented the major exporter of frozen cuttlefishes in Africa, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while South Africa ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
