Exports in Africa

In 2022, shipments abroad of ethyl alcohol increased by X% to X litres, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X litres in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ethanol exports surged to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

South Africa was the major exporter of ethyl alcohol in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X litres, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Swaziland (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Sudan (X%) and Uganda (X%). The following exporters - Egypt (X litres) and Mauritius (X litres) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.
