Exports in Africa

In 2022, the amount of electrical capacitors exported in Africa soared to X units, increasing by X% compared with 2021. Overall, exports, however, faced a deep slump. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, capacitor exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Morocco (X units), distantly followed by Mali (X units), South Africa (X units) and Ethiopia (X units) represented the largest exporters of electrical capacitors, together making up X% of total exports. Rwanda (X units) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Ethiopia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest capacitor supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Mali, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Morocco stood at X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (X% per year) and Mali (X% per year).

The export price in Africa stood at $X per thousand units in 2022, reducing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per thousand units, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per thousand units), while Rwanda ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of electrical capacitors increased by X% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, capacitor imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

South Africa was the largest importer of electrical capacitors in Africa, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. Egypt (X units) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tunisia (X%). Algeria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electrical capacitors imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per thousand units, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per thousand units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
