Duck Meat Exports in Africa

In 2017, exports of duck, goose and guinea fowl in Africa totaled X tonnes, picking up by X% against the previous year. The duck meat exports continue to indicate a remarkable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when it surged by X% y-o-y. In that year, the duck meat exports reached their peak volume of X tonnes. From 2012 to 2017, growth of the duck meat exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, duck meat exports stood at $X in 2017. The duck meat exports continue to indicate a remarkable growth. The level of exports peaked in 2017, and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Duck Meat Exports by Country in Africa

In 2017, South Africa (X tonnes) represented the largest exporter for duck, goose and guinea fowl, constituting X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tonnes), creating X% share of total exports. Mauritius (X tonnes), Togo (X tonnes) and Namibia (X tonnes) occupied the slight share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2017, average annual rates of growth with regard to duck meat exports from South Africa stood at +X%. At the same time, Mauritius (+X%), Namibia (+X%), Togo (+X%) and Egypt (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mauritius emerged as the fastest growing exporter in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2017. From 2007 to 2017, the share of Namibia, Mauritius, Egypt and South Africa decreased by -X%, -X%, -X% and -X% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest duck meat markets worldwide were Egypt ($X), South Africa ($X) and Mauritius ($X), together comprising X% of total exports.

Mauritius (+X% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, among the main exporting countries over the last decade, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2017, the duck meat export price in Africa amounted to $X per tonne, flattening at the previous year. The duck meat export price continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012, an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the export prices for duck, goose and guinea fowl reached its peak figure level in 2017, and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Export prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest export price was Egypt ($X per tonne), while Togo ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export prices was attained by Egypt (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Duck Meat Imports in Africa

In 2017, imports of duck, goose and guinea fowl in Africa stood at X tonnes, growing by X% against the previous year. The total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2007 to 2017: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, the duck meat imports increased by +X% against 2011 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011, when it surged by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the duck meat imports reached its peak figure volume in 2017, and are expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, duck meat imports totaled $X in 2017. The total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2007 to 2017: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, the duck meat imports increased by +X% against 2011 indices. The level of imports peaked in 2017, and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

The imports of the four major importers of duck, goose and guinea fowl, namely South Africa, Namibia, Central African Republic and Sudan, represented more than half of total import. It was distantly followed by Ethiopia (X tonnes), committing X% share of total imports. The following importers - Angola (X tonnes), Gabon (X tonnes), Togo (X tonnes), Mauritius (X tonnes), Tanzania (X tonnes) and Cabo Verde (X tonnes) together made up X% of total imports.

Namibia, Central African Republic, Angola, Mauritius, Togo, Tanzania, Gabon and Cabo Verde lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Duck Meat Import Prices by Country in Africa

In 2017, the duck meat import price in Africa amounted to $X per tonne, remaining constant against the previous year. The duck meat import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import prices for duck, goose and guinea fowl attained its maximum level of $X per tonne in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2017, it failed to regain its momentum.

Import prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest import price was Mauritius ($X per tonne), while Central African Republic ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
