The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, cocoa paste exports contracted to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Cote d'Ivoire was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for X% of total exports. Ghana (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Cameroon (X%).

Exports from Cote d'Ivoire increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Cameroon (+X%) and Ghana (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cameroon emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. Cote d'Ivoire (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ghana saw its share reduced by -X% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cocoa paste imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of X%.
