In 2022, the amount of chestnuts exported in Africa declined notably to X tons, which is down by X% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports saw a significant curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chestnut exports fell notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports faced a sharp slump. In 2022, Libya (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) represented the main importer of chestnuts in Africa, comprising X% of total import. It was distantly followed by Tunisia (X tons), making up a X% share of total imports. Algeria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
