Binocular Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, shipments abroad of binoculars increased by X% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, binocular exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Mauritius represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at X% of total exports. South Africa (X units) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Algeria (X%) and Kenya (X%). Nigeria (X units) and Tanzania (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Mauritius increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kenya (X%), Tanzania (X%), Algeria (X%), Nigeria (X%) and South Africa (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kenya emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Mauritius (X p.p.), Kenya (X p.p.) and Algeria (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest binocular supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mauritius ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Algeria, with a X% share.
