Exports in Africa

In 2023, the amount of animal or vegetable fertilisers exported in Africa expanded slightly to X tons, growing by X% on the year before. Overall, exports recorded notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2023 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, animal or vegetable fertilisers exports rose modestly to $X in 2023. In general, exports continue to indicate moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mauritania represented the main exporter of animal or vegetable fertilisers in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. In terms of the main exporting countries, Botswana, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2023, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Senegal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, imports of animal or vegetable fertilisers in Africa soared to X tons, growing by X% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
