Exports in Africa

In 2023, overseas shipments of airplanes and other aircraft were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, exports enjoyed notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2023, South Africa (X units) and Morocco (X units) were the largest exporters of airplanes and other aircraft in Africa, together reaching near X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Botswana (X units), Senegal (X units), Zambia (X units), Madagascar (X units) and Tanzania (X units), together mixing up a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Morocco (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of airplanes and other aircraft, namely Togo, Ethiopia and South Africa, represented more than half of total import. Botswana (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Zimbabwe (X%) and Namibia (X%). Ghana (X units), Nigeria (X units), Kenya (X units) and Zambia (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Togo (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ethiopia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported airplanes and other aircraft in Africa, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Namibia ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by South Africa, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value in Ethiopia amounted to X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Namibia (X% per year) and South Africa (X% per year).
