Yarn Market Size in the Netherlands

Denmark (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Portugal (X tonnes) were the main destinations of yarn exports from the Netherlands, with a combined X% share of total exports. France, the UK, Belgium and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Denmark ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest markets for yarn exported from the Netherlands worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Denmark recorded the highest growth rate of exports, over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the average yarn export price amounted to $X per tonne, going up by X% against the previous year. In general, the yarn export price continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands

Yarn imports into the Netherlands totaled X tonnes in 2018, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, yarn imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, yarn imports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, yarn imports amounted to $X in 2018. Overall, yarn imports, however, continue to indicate a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Turkey (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of yarn to the Netherlands, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, yarn imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tonnes), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Italy (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+X% per year) and Italy (+X% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the average import prices for yarn of man-made filaments reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average import prices for yarn of man-made filaments failed to regain its momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for Belarus ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
