Wire and Cable Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average wire and cable export price amounted to $10,274 per ton, reducing by -2.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 14% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $12,760 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($21,134 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($4,425 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Wire and Cable Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average wire and cable import price stood at $29,569 per ton in June 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $32,632 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($75,180 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($10,141 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Exports in China
Wire and cable exports from China declined to 2.4M tons in 2022, waning by -2.7% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5M tons, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, wire and cable exports reached $28.4B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
