Spirits and Liqueurs Price in China (CIF) - 2023

The average spirits and liqueurs import price stood at $22.0 per litre in June 2023, rising by 49% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, spirits and liqueurs import price increased by +49.3% against May 2023 indices. The import price peaked at $25.8 per litre in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($38.9 per litre), while the price for South Korea ($1.7 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Spirits and Liqueurs Price in China (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average spirits and liqueurs export price amounted to $26 per litre, surging by 10% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, spirits and liqueurs export price increased by +20.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $27 per litre in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($62 per litre), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($4.6 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic People's Republic of Korea (+39.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Spirits and Liqueurs Imports in China

Spirits and liqueurs imports into China contracted notably to 109M litres in 2022, falling by -24.1% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 143M litres, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, spirits and liqueurs imports contracted to $2.1B in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 73% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $2.4B, and then declined in the following year.

In 2022, the amount of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages exported from China skyrocketed to 34M litres, jumping by 18% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, spirits and liqueurs exports surged to $894M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
