The average iron and steel pipe import price stood at $2,353 per ton in August 2023, reducing by -24.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 18% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,680 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($3,672 per ton), while the price for Vietnam totaled $1,233 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Price for Iron and Steel Pipe in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2021, the average iron and steel pipe export price amounted to $4,073 per ton, jumping by 45% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 159% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,481 per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($11,044 per ton), while the average price for exports to Barbados ($1,891 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+40.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Iron and Steel Pipe in the United States
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of iron and steel pipes and tubes, when their volume decreased by -20.1% to 6.5K tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 230% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 8.2K tons, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
