Pasta and Couscous Price in China (FOB) - 2022
The average pasta and couscous export price stood at $1,852 per ton in 2022, growing by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,164 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,883 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,412 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pasta and Couscous Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In April 2023, the average pasta and couscous import price amounted to $3,364 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 4.8% m-o-m. The import price peaked in April 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Thailand ($4,071 per ton) and South Korea ($3,350 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($2,722 per ton) and Indonesia ($3,265 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
