Oat Price in China (CIF) - 2023

The average oat import price stood at $295 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -12.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 16% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $364 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($714 per ton), while the price for Russia ($211 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Oat Price in China (FOB) - 2022

The average oat export price stood at $1,245 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 444% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($1,904 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($770 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Oat Imports in China

In 2022, imports of oats into China soared to 390K tons, picking up by 24% on 2021. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, oat imports surged to $127M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Oat Exports in China

In 2022, the amount of oats exported from China contracted sharply to 59 tons, declining by -33.8% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 90 tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, oat exports dropped rapidly to $74K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $98K, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
