U.S. Goat Hides And Skins Export Price per Ton in June 2022

In June 2022, the goat hides and skins price per ton stood at $42.6K (FOB, US), increasing by 23% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 101% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in June 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($208.5K per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($916.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. U.S. Goat Hides And Skins Exports

In June 2022, after two months of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of goat or kid hides and skins, when their volume increased by 7.9% to 395 tons. Over the period under review, exports showed a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 82% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1K tons. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, goat hides and skins exports surged to $17M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of hides and skins; raw, of swine, (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split amounted to +3.9%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: hides and skins; raw, of reptiles (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split (+7.9% per month) and goat or kid hides and skins (+2.1% per month).

In value terms, hides and skins; raw, of reptiles (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split ($14M) remains the largest type of goat hides and skins exported from the United States, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by hides and skins; raw, of swine, (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split ($2.8M), with a 16% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of hides and skins; raw, of reptiles (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split amounted to +6.3%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: hides and skins; raw, of swine, (fresh or salted, dried, limed, pickled or otherwise preserved, but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared), whether or not dehaired or split (+0.6% per month) and goat or kid hides and skins (-21.8% per month).

U.S. Goat Hides And Skins Exports by Country

Mexico (97 tons), Vietnam (66 tons) and Thailand (53 tons) were the main destinations of goat hides and skins exports from the United States, with a combined 55% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +33.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($4.5M) remains the key foreign market for goat hides and skins exports from the United States, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($962K), with a 5.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 4.5% share.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +16.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Mexico (+5.3% per month) and Thailand (-12.4% per month).
