U.S. Flexible Tubes, Pipes and Hoses of Plastics, with a Burst Pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa Import Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 mpa price per ton stood at $13.4K (CIF, US), jumping by 47% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated notable growth from January 2022 to August 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, import price for flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa increased by +46.9% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 57% against the previous month. The import price peaked in August 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($23.0K per ton), while the price for Thailand ($4.6K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2022, approximately 905 tons of flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa were imported into the United States; falling by -26.7% compared with the month before. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 104% m-o-m.

In value terms, imports of flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa rose markedly to $12M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.5% from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 53% month-to-month.

Canada (153 tons), South Korea (114 tons) and India (109 tons) were the main suppliers of imports of flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa to the United States, with a combined 41% share of total imports. China, Mexico, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Thailand, Taiwan (Chinese), Israel and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 54%.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +242.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with a burst pressure ≥ 27,6 MPa suppliers to the United States were India ($1.6M), Canada ($1.6M) and Mexico ($1.4M), together comprising 38% of total imports. France, Germany, the UK, China, Italy, South Korea, Israel, Taiwan (Chinese), Thailand and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 56%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +134.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
