Date Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average date import price amounted to $442 per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 40% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $619 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($1,000 per ton), while the price for Iran ($372 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Date Price in China (FOB) - 2022
The average date export price stood at $995 per ton in 2022, reducing by -59.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 377% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $12,503 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Japan amounted to +564.7% per year.
Date Imports in China
For the fourth year in a row, China recorded growth in supplies from abroad of dates, which increased by 60% to 20K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, date imports skyrocketed to $9M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +77.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Date Exports in China
In 2022, shipments abroad of dates was finally on the rise to reach 121 tons after two years of decline. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, date exports surged to $120K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
