Dairy Produce Price in France (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average dairy produce export price amounted to $3,195 per ton, picking up by 6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,676 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,845 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dairy Produce Price in France (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average dairy produce import price amounted to $4,464 per ton, rising by 15% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dairy produce import price increased by +24.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,984 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,301 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dairy Produce Exports in France

In 2022, overseas shipments of dairy produce decreased by -2.8% to 2.3M tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 1.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dairy produce exports totaled $7.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 9.8%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
