Pulses Production in the United Kingdom

Pulses production in the United Kingdom amounted to 305.1 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +9.0% against the previous year level. Overall, the pulses output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -4.9%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a measured expansion of the harvested area and a noticeable contraction of the yield figures. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013, when the output figure increased by +16% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the pulses production in the United Kingdom attained its maximum volume of 508.2 thousand tonnes in 2009. From 2010 to 2015, the total pulses output growth failed to regain its strength.
