Pulses Production in Niger

Pulses production in Niger amounted to 13.6 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -1.6% against the previous year level. Overall, the pulses output pursued a moderate decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a slight curtailment of the harvested area and a moderate improvement of the yield figures. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +11% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the pulses production in Niger attained its maximum volume of 16.0 thousand tonnes in 2010. From 2011 to 2015, the total pulses output growth failed to regain its strength.
