Artichoke Production in Egypt

Artichoke production in Egypt amounted to 197.9 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -25.7% against the previous year level. Overall, the artichoke output pursued a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a robust expansion of the harvested area and a slight contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +91% from the previous year level. In that year, the artichoke production in Egypt attained its maximum volume of 387.7 thousand tonnes. From 2013 to 2015, the artichoke output in growth failed to regain its strength.
