Areca Nut Production in Thailand

Areca nut production in Thailand amounted to 31.6 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -13.9% against the previous year level. Overall, the areca nut output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -2.6%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a noticeable curtailment of the harvested area and a slight contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +37% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the areca nut production in Thailand attained its maximum volume of 41.0 thousand tonnes in 2009. From 2010 to 2015, the total areca nut output growth failed to regain its strength.
