Areca Nut Production in Indonesia

Areca nut production in Indonesia amounted to 89.9 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +91.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the areca nut output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -7.0%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a measured expansion of the harvested area and a noticeable contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015, when the output figure increased by +91% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the areca nut production in Indonesia attained its maximum volume of 184.3 thousand tonnes in 2010. From 2011 to 2015, the total areca nut output growth failed to regain its strength.
