Areca Nut Production in Bangladesh

Areca nut production in Bangladesh amounted to 79.0 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -22.5% against the previous year level. Overall, the areca nut output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a noticeable curtailment of the harvested area and a moderate improvement of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +28% from the previous year level. In that year, the areca nut production in Bangladesh attained its maximum volume of 136.0 thousand tonnes. From 2013 to 2015, the areca nut output in growth failed to regain its strength.
