Apple Production in South Africa

Apple production in South Africa amounted to 807.8 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +3.9% against the previous year level. Overall, the apple output pursued a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern did not record any noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a slight curtailment of the harvested area and solid gains of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013, when the output figure increased by +14% from the previous year level. In that year, the apple production in South Africa attained its maximum volume of 903.8 thousand tonnes. From 2014 to 2015, the apple output in growth failed to regain its strength.
