Anise, Badian And Fennel Production in Syria

Anise, badian and fennel production in Syria amounted to 18.4 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -33.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the anise, badian and fennel output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -4.2%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a noticeable curtailment of the harvested area and solid gains of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +33% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the anise, badian and fennel production in Syria attained its maximum volume of 51.5 thousand tonnes in 2012. From 2013 to 2015, the total anise, badian and fennel output growth failed to regain its strength.
