Anise, Badian And Fennel Production in Afghanistan

Anise, badian and fennel production in Afghanistan amounted to 13.5 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +1.8% against the previous year level. Overall, the anise, badian and fennel output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -2.9%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a noticeable curtailment of the harvested area and a moderate improvement of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009, when the output figure increased by +15% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the anise, badian and fennel production in Afghanistan attained its maximum volume of 17.0 thousand tonnes in 2007. From 2008 to 2015, the total anise, badian and fennel output growth failed to regain its strength.
