Almond Production in Syria

Almond production in Syria amounted to 16.5 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -52.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the almond output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -17.4%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a robust expansion of the harvested area and a noticeable contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +78% from the previous year level. In that year, the almond production in Syria attained its maximum volume of 130.3 thousand tonnes. From 2012 to 2015, the almond output in growth failed to regain its strength.
