Almond Production in Portugal

Almond production in Portugal amounted to 8.7 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -3.2% against the previous year level. Overall, the almond output pursued a moderate decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a slight curtailment of the harvested area and a slight contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014, when the output figure increased by +103% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the almond production in Portugal attained its maximum volume of 9.2 thousand tonnes in 2007. From 2008 to 2015, the total almond output growth failed to regain its strength.
