Almond Production in Afghanistan

Almond production in Afghanistan amounted to 9.3 thousand tonnes in 2015, declining by -66.2% against the previous year level. Overall, the almond output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -14.2%. This general negative trend was largely conditioned by a slight increase of the harvested area and a noticeable contraction of the yield figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +33% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the almond production in Afghanistan attained its maximum volume of 62.0 thousand tonnes in 2012. From 2013 to 2015, the total almond output growth failed to regain its strength.
