Vacuum Cleaner Imports By Country

In 2016, China (478K tonnes) represented the main importer for vacuum cleaner, committing 30% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the U.S. (189K tonnes), Germany (93K tonnes), and Malaysia (87K tonnes), together mixed up 23% share of total vacuum cleaner imports. South Korea (70K tonnes), the UK (60K tonnes), France (48K tonnes), Japan (42K tonnes), Viet Nam (39K tonnes), Russia (35K tonnes), Mexico (34K tonnes), and Hungary (31K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Germany (+3.3%), Japan (+3.2%), South Korea (+2.6%), France (+1.8%), Malaysia (+1.6%), Viet Nam (+1.4%), and Hungary (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Germany emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +3.3% from 2007;2016. The U.S. experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (;2.4%), Mexico (;3.0%), and the UK (;3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest importers remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($2.3B) constitutes the largest market for imported vacuum cleaner worldwide, making up 23% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Japan ($1.1B), with the share of 11% of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with the share of 10%.

In the U.S., vacuum cleaner imports stood at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2007;2016. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: Japan (+10.7% per year) and Germany (+7.3% per year).

Vacuum Cleaner Import Prices By Country

The average vacuum cleaner import price stood at $6,376 per tonne in 2016, standing approx. at the previous year level. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%.The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010, when import increased by 8% from the previous year level. Global vacuum cleaner import peaked of $6,381 per tonne in 2015, leveling off in the following year.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Japan ($26 per kg), while China ($238 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of vacuum cleaner import prices was attained by Viet Nam (+21.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, it indicated a significant increase from 2007 to 2016: the total imports volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when import increased by 20% year-to-year. Global veneer sheet import peaked of 2.9M tonnes in 2015, falling back in the following year.

Veneer Sheet Imports By Country

In 2016, China (661K tonnes), distantly followed by India (325K tonnes), Japan (220K tonnes), and South Korea (149K tonnes) were the major importers of veneer sheet, together constituting 55% of total imports. Spain (104K tonnes), Latvia (104K tonnes), France (90K tonnes), Italy (85K tonnes), Turkey (72K tonnes), Germany (65K tonnes), the Netherlands (44K tonnes), and Austria (41K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

From 2007 to 2016, average annual rates of growth with regard to veneer sheet imports into China stood at +23.7%. At the same time, Latvia (+49.6%), India (+43.2%), Japan (+16.2%), Turkey (+15.0%), the Netherlands (+9.9%), France (+1.8%), and Austria (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +49.6% from 2007-2016. Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Korea (-2.7%), Germany (-3.0%), and Italy (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Italy (2%), and South Korea (2%) increased significantly, the share of Turkey (-2.1%), Latvia (-4.1%), Japan (-6.6%), India (-12.7%), and China (-22.9%) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest veneer sheet markets worldwide were India ($200M), Germany ($175M) and Italy ($160M), together comprising 17% of global imports.

India (+32.7% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the veneer sheet imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Veneer Sheet Import Prices By Country

The average veneer sheet import price stood at $1,252 per tonne in 2016, ascending by 21% against the previous year. In general, veneer sheet import price continues to indicate a deep shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016, when import increased by 21% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, average veneer sheet import price attained its maximum level of $2,171 per tonne in 2007- however, from 2008 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Austria ($2,943 per tonne), while Latvia ($231 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of veneer sheet import prices was attained by South Korea (+0.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
