Which Country Imports the Most Triticale in the World?

Global triticale imports amounted to 1,197 thousand tonnes in 2015, growing by +11.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the global triticale imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.4% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +35% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global triticale imports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global triticale imports amounted to $356 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global triticale imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +9.8%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Triticale Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the triticale imports in absolute volumes was Germany (438 thousand tonnes), accounting for 37% of global imports. It was followed by Spain (186 thousand tonnes), with a share of 16% of global imports. Moreover, triticale imports in Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Spain (186 thousand tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Qatar with a share of 12%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of triticale imports in Germany stood at +35.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Spain (+64.9% per year) and Qatar (+128.6% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of imports of triticale in absolute volumes was Germany (81 million USD), making up 23% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Qatar (39 million USD), with a share of 11% of global imports. Moreover, triticale imports in Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Qatar (39 million USD), twofold. It was followed by Spain with a share of 10%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of triticale imports in Germany was at +18.5%. The remaining importing countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: Qatar (+103.0% per year) and Spain (+41.6% per year).
