In 2016, Lebanon (25K tonnes), distantly followed by South Africa (16K tonnes), Canada (14K tonnes), Germany (13K tonnes), the U.S. (8K tonnes), and India (7.8K tonnes) were the major importers of armored fighting vehicle, together mixed up 63% of total imports. Indonesia (5.3K tonnes), 384 (4.7K tonnes), Australia (4.1K tonnes), Poland (3.4K tonnes), the Netherlands (2.8K tonnes), and Brazil (2.4K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

The imports of the twelve major importers of container, namely Germany, China, the UK, the U.S., Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Canada, South Africa, and Poland, represented more than half of total import.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of container imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the UK (+12.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest container markets worldwide were the U.S. ($570M), Germany ($395M) and France ($384M), with a combined 23% share of global imports.Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada, the UK, Spain, Poland, China, Italy and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

South Africa (+7.4% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of container imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Container Import Prices By Country

The average container import price stood at $2,018 per tonne in 2016, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year level. In general, container import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, when import increased by 11% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average container import price reached its maximum level of $2,133 per tonne in 2011- however, from 2012 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Canada ($3,623 per tonne), while South Africa ($241 per tonne) was among the lowest.
