In 2016, Germany (17K tonnes), China (15K tonnes), Canada (12K tonnes), and the U.S. (8.4K tonnes) were the major importers of railway passenger coach in the world, comprising 41% of total import. Japan (5K tonnes), Indonesia (4.9K tonnes), Spain (3.8K tonnes), France (3.5K tonnes), Italy (3.2K tonnes), Kazakhstan (3.2K tonnes), Austria (3.1K tonnes), and Hungary (2.9K tonnes) took the slight share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of railway passenger coach imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Italy (+36.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
