Plastic Self;Adhesive Plate Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of plastic self;adhesive plate imports in 2016 were Mexico (232K tonnes), the U.S. (192K tonnes), Germany (174K tonnes), the UK (154K tonnes), Italy (120K tonnes), China (118K tonnes), France (114K tonnes), Spain (111K tonnes), Viet Nam (98K tonnes), Poland (92K tonnes), the Netherlands (80K tonnes), and Canada (75K tonnes), together amounting to 52% of total import.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of plastic self;adhesive plate imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Viet Nam (+28.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($2.6B) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic self;adhesive plate worldwide, making up 14% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($1.2B), with the share of 6% of global imports. It was followed by Mexico, with the share of 6%.

In China, plastic self;adhesive plate imports stood at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the period from 2007;2016. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+1.9% per year) and Mexico (+4.1% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when import price increased by 18% from the previous year level. In that year, average plastic self;adhesive plate import price attained its maximum level of $6,825 per tonne. From 2012 to 2016, growth of average plastic self;adhesive plate import price failed to regain its strength.

In 2016, Mozambique (1.4M tonnes), distantly followed by China (585K tonnes), the U.S. (523K tonnes), Germany (518K tonnes), and Turkey (364K tonnes) were the key importers of plastic tube and pipe, together generating 42% of total imports. Italy (340K tonnes), Mexico (311K tonnes), France (250K tonnes), Spain (176K tonnes), Poland (153K tonnes), and Canada (145K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

Mozambique was also the fastest growing in terms of the plastic tube and pipe imports, with a CAGR of +42.7% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, Spain (+3.1%), Canada (+2.3%), the U.S. (+1.8%), Turkey (+1.5%), and Poland (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth.
