Which Country Imports the Most Mining Machinery in the World?

IndexBox has just published a new report "World: Mineral Waters And Aerated Waters ; Market Report. Analysis and Forecast to 2025". Here is a summary of the report's key findings.

In 2016, approx. 129M tonnes of bottled water were imported worldwide; flattening at the previous year level. In general, bottled water imports continue to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when it surged by 591% year;to;year. Global bottled water import peaked of 788M tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, bottled water imports totaled $3.7B in 2016. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Global bottled water import peaked of $3.7B in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

Bottled Water Imports By Country

China, Macao SAR (97M tonnes) prevails in bottled water imports structure, finishing at 97M tonnes, which was near 75% of total imports in 2016. The Netherlands (5.5M tonnes), France (4.9M tonnes), Poland (4.8M tonnes), Kazakhstan (4.6M tonnes), and Belgium (4.2M tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

China, Macao SAR was also the fastest growing in terms of the bottled water imports, with a CAGR of +3.0% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Poland, the Netherlands, and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belgium (;4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China, Macao SAR (;17.4%) significantly weakened its position in terms of the global imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Belgium ($288M) constitutes the largest market for imported bottled water worldwide, making up 8% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($126M), with the share of 3% of global imports. It was followed by France, with the share of 3%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual growth rate of value of bottled water imports in Belgium expanded at +0.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: the Netherlands (;0.6% per year) and France (;1.1% per year).

Bottled Water Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for bottled water amounted to $28 per tonne, stabilizing at the previous year level. In general, bottled water import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when import increased by 600% year;to;year. Global bottled water import peaked of $28 per tonne in 2007; afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Belgium ($69 per tonne), while China, Macao SAR ($1 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of bottled water import prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mining Machinery Imports By Country

Mozambique (4.1M tonnes) dominates in mining machinery imports structure, accounting for 4.1M tonnes, which was near 51% of total imports in 2016. It was distantly followed by China (510K tonnes), mixed up 6% share of total mining machinery imports. The following importers - Germany (321K tonnes), Italy (230K tonnes), the UK (228K tonnes), the U.S. (180K tonnes), Iran (137K tonnes), and Indonesia (134K tonnes) together made up 15% of total imports.

Mozambique was also the fastest growing in terms of the mining machinery imports, with a CAGR of +216.5% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, Iran (+21.0%), and Indonesia (+17.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Italy, the UK, China, and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the U.S. (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of Mozambique decreased by -50.6% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest mining machinery markets worldwide were the U.S. ($1.3B), Iran ($747M) and Indonesia ($552M), with a combined 16% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Germany, China, the UK, Italy and Mozambique, which together accounted for a further 9%.

Mozambique (+26.3% per year) had the highest growth rate of mining machinery imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mining machinery import price stood at $1,962 per tonne in 2016, shrinking by -52.6% against the previous year. Overall, mining machinery import price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, when it surged by 11% against the previous year level. In that year, average mining machinery import price reached its maximum level of $4,877 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average mining machinery import price failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($7,292 per tonne), while Mozambique ($19 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of mining machinery import prices was attained by the U.S. (+1.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
