Which Country Imports the Most Lasers, Other Than Laser Diodes in the World?

In 2016, the global imports of lamp holder amounted to 9.1M tonnes, going up by 96% against the previous year figure. In general, lamp holder imports continue to indicate a drastic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016, when import increased by 96% year;to;year. Global lamp holder import peaked of 15M tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, lamp holder imports amounted to $96B in 2016. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Global lamp holder import peaked of $102B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Lamp Holder Imports By Country

Mozambique (4.4M tonnes) represented the main importing country with an import of around 4.4M tonnes, which resulted at 49% of total imports. Malaysia (1.5M tonnes) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Mexico (420K tonnes). All these countries together held near 21% share of total imports. China (344K tonnes), Germany (169K tonnes), Czech Republic (164K tonnes), and China, Hong Kong SAR (152K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

Mozambique was also the fastest growing in terms of the lamp holder imports, with a CAGR of +343.4% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, Czech Republic (+6.0%), China (+5.0%), and Malaysia (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, China, Hong Kong SAR (;7.0%), and Mexico (;30.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of Mexico, and China, Hong Kong SAR increased by 124%, and 2% percentage points, while Malaysia (;5.3%), and Mozambique (;48.9%) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest lamp holder markets worldwide were China ($14B), Germany ($7.1B) and China, Hong Kong SAR ($7.1B), with a combined 30% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Mexico, Malaysia, Czech Republic and Mozambique, which together accounted for a further 10%.

Mozambique (+7.5% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to the lamp holder imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Lamp Holder Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for lamp holder amounted to $11 per kg, reducing by ;48.6% against the previous year. Overall, lamp holder import price continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when import price increased by 330% year;to;year. Global lamp holder import peaked of $23 per kg in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was China, Hong Kong SAR ($47 per kg), while Mozambique ($5 per tonne) was among the lowest.

Overall, it indicated a remarkable growth from 2007 to 2016: the total imports volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, laser imports increased by +86.4% against its level of 2007. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012, when imports increased by 15% y-o-y. Over the period under review, global laser imports attained its maximum volume in 2016, and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

In value terms, laser imports amounted to $65B in 2016. Overall, laser imports continue to indicate a slight slump. Over the period under review, global laser imports reached its maximum level of $89B in 2013- however, from 2014 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

The countries with the highest levels of laser imports in 2016 were China (577K tonnes), South Korea (466K tonnes), and Mexico (320K tonnes), together resulting at 78% of total import. Germany (109K tonnes) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (87K tonnes). All these countries together took near 11% share of total imports. China, Hong Kong SAR (45K tonnes), and Thailand (42K tonnes) held the minor share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of laser imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Malaysia (+42.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($38B) constitutes the largest market for imported laser worldwide, making up 58% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China, Hong Kong SAR ($3.8B), with the share of 6% of global imports. It was followed by Mexico, with the share of 6%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual growth rate of value of laser imports in China decreased by -1.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: China, Hong Kong SAR (+0.3% per year) and Mexico (-5.0% per year).

Laser Import Prices By Country

The average laser import price stood at $37 per kg in 2016, lowering by -25.5% against the previous year. Overall, laser import price continues to indicate a drastic drop. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when import increased by 21% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average laser import price reached its maximum level of $84 per kg in 2008- however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was China, Hong Kong SAR ($86 per kg), while South Korea ($5,950 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of laser import prices was attained by South Korea (+5.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
