Which Country Imports the Most Diodes in the World?

Diesel Engine Imports By Country

Japan (520K tonnes), Germany (385K tonnes), France (384K tonnes), the U.S. (369K tonnes), South Korea (258K tonnes), Mexico (242K tonnes), Poland (236K tonnes), the UK (220K tonnes), the Netherlands (187K tonnes), Sweden (173K tonnes), Hungary (161K tonnes), and Turkey (157K tonnes) represented roughly 66% of total imports of diesel engine in 2016.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of diesel engine imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+9.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($5.5B), Germany ($4.8B) and Mexico ($3.8B) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, together accounting for 32% of global imports.

Mexico (+9.4% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of diesel engine imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Diesel Engine Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for diesel engine amounted to $8,699 per tonne, flattening at the previous year level. In general, diesel engine import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when import increased by 15% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, average diesel engine import price attained its maximum level of $9,829 per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Mexico ($16 per kg), while Sweden ($1,178 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of diesel engine import prices was attained by Mexico (+7.7% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Global diode imports amounted to 4.3M tonnes in 2016, picking up by 15% against the previous year figure. Overall, it indicated a tangible growth from 2007 to 2016: the total imports volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, diode imports decreased by -27.7% against its level of 2014. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014, when it surged by 67% year-to-year. In that year, global diode imports reached its maximum volume of 6M tonnes. From 2015 to 2016, growth of global diode imports stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, diode imports totaled $107B in 2016. Overall, it indicated a prominent expansion from 2007 to 2016: the total imports value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, diode imports decreased by -5.4% against its level of 2014. Diode Imports By Country

In 2016, China (1.8M tonnes) was the largest importer for diode, generating 41% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mozambique (732K tonnes), South Korea (276K tonnes), Nigeria (268K tonnes), and Germany (224K tonnes), together committing 35% share of total diode imports. Mexico (139K tonnes), the Philippines (133K tonnes), the UK (131K tonnes), the Netherlands (90K tonnes), and Australia (76K tonnes) took the minor share of total imports.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Mozambique (+866.0%), Nigeria (+54.2%), South Korea (+36.8%), Australia (+36.3%), the UK (+33.0%), Germany (+7.4%), and the Philippines (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +866.0% from 2007-2016. By contrast, the Netherlands (-12.0%), and Mexico (-14.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (10%), and the Netherlands (4%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Australia, Germany, the UK, South Korea, Nigeria, and Mozambique saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -2.5%, -2.8%, -6.0%, -6.0%, and -16.9% from 2007 to 2016, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($28B) constitutes the largest market for imported diode worldwide, making up 26% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($5.4B), with the share of 5% of global imports. It was followed by South Korea, with the share of 4%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual growth rate of value of diode imports in China expanded at +6.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (-3.0% per year) and South Korea (+4.0% per year).

Diode Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for diode amounted to $25 per kg, shrinking by -14.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%.The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015, when import increased by 53% from the previous year level. In that year, average diode import price reached its maximum level of $29 per kg, falling back in the following year.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Germany ($24 per kg), while Mozambique ($7 per tonne) was among the lowest.
